Early Life

Lauren Drain was born in Tampa, Florida, and spent her early years near Bradenton before relocating to Olathe, Kansas, at the age of five with her father, Steve. Steve, pursuing a graduate program at the University of Kansas at the time, became involved with the Westboro Baptist Church while working on a documentary critical of the church. Eventually, Lauren and her family joined the church, but she was later excommunicated for her nonconformity. As a result, her family, including her parents, sisters, and brother, severed ties with her. Lauren has shared her experience on her website and YouTube channel. Her parents were later expelled from the church.



Lauren graduated from Topeka West High School in Topeka, Kansas, and was awarded a Wiseman scholarship to attend Washburn University. In 2007, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Washburn University, paving the way for her career as a Cardiac Registered Nurse, a role she fulfilled for nine years.

Her tenure as a nurse was fulfilling, allowing her to make a meaningful impact during that chapter of her life. However, the demanding hours eventually took a toll on her health. Fortunately, she was able to leverage her expertise to prioritize her own well-being.

Lauren Drain married her current husband David Kagan in 2013 and they have a daughter, Aria Skye, who was born on December 28, 2019.

Career and Competition

In 2014, Lauren embarked on a journey to transform her physique after registering for a WBFF (World Bikini Fitness and Fashion) show. Realizing she wasn't in the best shape and feeling dissatisfied with herself, she sought out a coach and trained rigorously for 14 weeks leading up to her first Bikini competition.

During this time, she managed to shed excess weight, going from over 135 lbs to 122 lbs by focusing on cutting fat. Despite her dedication, her lack of experience and demanding work schedule, which often exceeded 13 hours a day, took its toll during her debut competition. As a result, she finished in 9th place out of over 30 competitors.

Never quit attitude

Despite the setback, Lauren's determination to earn a Pro Card only intensified. She refused to let the initial disappointment deter her; instead, it fueled her drive to succeed.

Lauren openly acknowledges the immense difficulty and challenges she faced throughout her body transformation journey. She bravely confronted insecurities, navigated through trial and error, and overcame the misconception of not being genetically gifted. Despite these obstacles, she persisted, driven by her unwavering resolve.

Her relentless dedication and willingness to push herself beyond her limits ultimately yielded remarkable results a triumph that surpassed even her wildest expectations.

There’s not much regarding her workouts but she did post a glute session on YouTube. Lauren usually trains her legs two to three times per week which is a lot but hey, it works for her. 

As for her training routine in general, Lauren will hit the gym 4-5 times per week and her sessions last an hour to an hour and a half.

Diet and Nutrition

Lauren has experimented with various diets over the years, leveraging her experiences to assist her clients in achieving their goals, regardless of their nutritional preferences or requirements. She firmly believes that consistency is paramount when striving for success.

Lauren adheres to what she calls the 80/20 diet, wherein 80 percent of her diet comprises nutritious foods such as lean proteins, healthy carbs, and good fats, while the remaining 20 percent allows for indulgences like Mexican food and ice cream. This balanced approach enables her to maintain her dietary regimen without feeling overly restricted.

Recognizing the importance of metabolism, Lauren advocates for consuming smaller, frequent meals throughout the day—a strategy she has found success with both personally and with her clients. She asserts that this practice helps regulate stomach size, promotes prolonged satiety, sustains energy levels, and mitigates muscle breakdown.

Moreover, Lauren vehemently opposes yo-yo dieting, preferring a gradual reduction in carbohydrate intake when striving for a leaner physique. Rather than eliminating carbs entirely, she opts to slightly reduce carb portions from her meals, a method she believes is more sustainable and conducive to long-term success.
